ASF School Track & Field Championship 2019

Coorg’s only School Athletics Championship saw a spurt in participation!

ASF hosted the second edition of Coorg’s only ‘School Track and Field Championship’ on December 2nd and 3rd , under the aegis of Kodagu district Athletic Association at the ASF/KALS Athletic arena.

This year we had more than doubled the participation from the first edition with more than 650 participants from over 31 government and private schools. These young athletes came from all around the district as well as from Mangalore and Mysore. Mr. M.B. Ganapathy, Senior General Manager and Mr. Rajiv. K.G, General Manager TATA Coffee Ltd, Pollibetta inaugurated the Championship. For the first time, raw talent, both girls and boys, got a platform to showcase their potential in track & field events across U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 age categories. This year’s Championship saw the emergence of several talented athletes.

Individual Champions under all categories were awarded cash prize of Rs. 1000 each along with trophies.

The individual champions under various categories were:

  • U12 Boys: Mst. Daval. S - GMP School, Pollibetta
  • U12 Girls: A.S. Gagana – BVBKV, Madikeri
  • U14 Boys: Karan Aiyappa – KALS
  • U14 Girls: Shreya. R.B – Lourdes Central School, Mangalore
  • U16 Boys: Sameer Pasha – Govt. Sports High School, Kudige & Srinidhi. P.S – KALS
  • U16 Girls: Soujanya – St. Marys High School, Mangalore
  • U18 Boys: Darshan. M. KALS
  • U18 Girls: Jyothika (trainee at ASF)– Cauvery PU College, Gonikoppal

This Athletic Championship unearthed the talents of young Athletes at the grassroot level.
